Access learning framework
The early learning phase is a period which focuses on access. During this phase all students are given multiple opportunities to access learning and develop the knowledge, understandings and skills for success at school; the emphasis being on literacy, numeracy, social and emotional competence, health and physical wellbeing and active learning processes.
Students access the Australian curriculum in English, mathematics, science, history and geography. A literacy, numeracy and personal and social capability focus is embedded in all learning areas.
Engagement learning framework
As all Queensland State schools transition to the Australian curriculum in the next few years, students will be engaging with both the Australian curriculum and the Queensland Curriculum Assessment Reporting (QCAR) framework.

Engagement with the Queensland Curriculum Assessment Reporting Framework Essential Learnings in: health and physical education, the arts and technology.
Central to the overall planning and teaching in the engagement phase is incorporating an understanding of how the strengths, interests and talents of individual students will impact on their learning.
Bridging learning framework
Year 10 at TCLC is called the Bridging phase of learning as students make the transition from the familiar to the new as they move from year 9 to the senior sector of the school. Students participate in transition activities which include school-based work experience, living skills programs and a wide range of activities that focus on involvement with community organisations and events.
Students engage with the Australian curriculum in English, mathematics, science, history and geography. In addition, they participate in programs that further develop their literacy, numeracy and personal and social skills in a wide range of school and community contexts. In consultation with parents and carers, Senior Education and Training (SET) plans are developed in year 10 to establish a student's goals for future pathways.
Pathways learning framework
The pathways learning phase assists students to transition to a full range of post-school destinations. Students in years 11 and 12 are exposed to a variety of learning experiences and programs in a range of settings such as the classroom, the workplace and the community.
A focus on employability skills is evidenced in all programs. Senior students participate in internal and external community work experience.
School based work experience could include: community newspaper delivery, office skills, car detailing and coffee making.
Community based work experience could include work at: Endeavour Industries, Coles supermarkets, Big W as well as other small to medium sized businesses.
Students and families chose one of three pathways for their senior studies: lifestyle pathway, learn pathway and earn pathway. Each pathway enables the student to fulfil their individual learning goals.
