Sensory Wall Occupational Therapy Project

Recently, two Occupational Therapy students from JCU, Kyla Smythe and Kate Hobson, have constructed a sensory wall with visual, auditory and tactile components for the students at TCLC. The sensory wall aims to stimulate and engage students of all abilities to encourage exploration and learning.
The sensory wall was designed with a Great Barrier Reef theme to celebrate living in Far North Queensland. It can be used as an educational tool or for students to use at their own leisure. It was created with a variety of different durable textures and materials and is located outside G block, in the undercover area.
Kyla and Kate have been motivated to produce a sustainable resource for the school and hope that it benefits both the staff and the students for years to come. They would like to thank everyone at the TCLC for their help and making this placement such an enjoyable and valuable experience.
