NAIDOC Week Parade

The whole school community moving to the 'Wombat Wobble' was a highlight of the NAIDOC Week Parade. Guest speaker, Gail Mabo's expressive dance moves and enthusiasm soon had staff and students mimicking wombats, crocodiles and emus in both slow and fast motion.

Gail spoke to the student body about the NAIDOC celebrations being inclusive of all Australians, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous. As part of the ceremony all student who identified with their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait heritage placed their name on a large map of Australia showing their traditional lands. From Victoria, New South Wales, the Queensland mainland and the Torres Strait Islands, the diversity of our student group soon became evident.
