NAIDOC Assembly

On Tuesday the 21st July at our whole school assembly we celebrated NAIDOC week. This was an important assembly because we celebrated the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The theme for 2015 was We All Stand On Sacred Ground- Learn, Respect, Celebrate.

We were fortunate to have 2 guest speakers, Harriet and Sid, representing the Torres Strait Islander people. Harriet spoke about the importance of family and showed us some amazing weaving. Sid led the students in a dance and song. Thank you Harriet and Sid - the students and staff all enjoyed and appreciated your presentations.

Students from the Junior, Middle and Junior Secondary Sectors also presented a sample of the NAIDOC activities they had worked on during the week and the Senior Sector treated us to a dance. Their work was then displayed in the foyer.
