Junior Play Program

22/07/2011
Each week students from the junior classes combine to participate in a structured play program. In the early years play is important to the development of the skills, concepts and approaches children need to be effective learners. During our weekly play program the students are provided with meaningful opportunities to explore learning through a range of structured play activities. The aim of the program is for teachers and adults to facilitate play through responsive interactions with the children and to scaffold the play to extend their learning and oral language and to develop thinking and problem solving strategies. The play program also provides and opportunity for students to engage socially with other children and explore a range of ways to develop imagination and creativity. Each week the children enjoy participating in creative, physical, dramatic and imaginative activities and games.
