JCU Speech Pathology Students at TCLC

27/02/2012

Groups of Speech Pathology students from James Cook University will visit TCLC throughout 2012 as part of their clinical program. It is an opportunity to see their chosen career in action. It is a fantastic chance to see a variety of client needs in a professional environment. Not only do we see speech pathology as part of a multi disciplinary team, we see it as part of both a health and education setting.

We get to meet students with a variety of special needs and experiences, giving us a chance to test our communication skills, and clinical preparation. These sessions add to our understanding of what speech pathologists do in the field. We will interact with staff and students, gain a true perspective of what is in store for us when we graduate, and begin to develop a better understanding of our professional world.

We will be challenged personally and professionally, which is an important part of our professional development. It is exciting, and interesting, and we hope to make the most of it. Many thanks to the staff and students at TCLC.
