International Day of People with Disability

The school assembly on Monday 3 December acknowledged the International Day of People with Disability.

This special day reminds us that although we may think, see, communicate or move differently to others, we have many abilities to celebrate. This year's theme is: removing barriers to create and inclusive and accessible society for all. Barriers can take a variety of forms including those relating to the physical environment or to information technology or those resulting from legislation or policy or societal attitudes or discrimination.

Three special guests attended our assembly: John from Mundingburra Rotary, Georgie from Lifeline and Mia from Lollipops. The school acknowledged their contribution to the enrichment of our students lives through the presentation of certificates of appreciation. These community members have supported the school this year by: providing resources for play-based programs in the junior school, providing work experience opportunities to the senior students and by providing a bursary to a senior student to purchase educational resources.

We say thank you for your ongoing support of our school.

The assembly also provided and opportunity to recognise the students of the month. Congratulations to: Blake, Kyle and Kirrah. The Reef Guardian Award for recycling was also awarded to MIDD1.
