Deputy Director General Visit

Recently we had the pleasure of welcoming Petrea Walton, Deputy Director General State Schooling, Sharon Schimming, Regional Director, Northern Region and Lesley Pecchiar, Assistant Regional Director, Northern Region. Mishel Emerson, the youngest student in the school and Anthony Misaraca, the oldest student in the school greeted our guests on their arrival. Petrea, Sharon and Lesley were most impressed with the warmth, communication and engagement of Mishel and Anthony.

Prior to a school walk through, whole school student achievement data was discussed, the Deloitte review into disability education in state schools and enrolment processes for special schools. Concerns were also raised with regards to the gap in service provision that families are experiencing whilst waiting for NDIS plans to be enacted.

During the walkthroughs, Patrea, Sharon and Lesley spoke with teachers and students about the teaching and learning occurring in classrooms and beyond. Although the visit was short, Patrea reported that TCLC is a Quality Teaching and Learning environment where students are happy and engaged in learning, where teachers are making curriculum meaningful for students and where learning is visible. Further, she commented on the wonderful reception she received into the school, the calm "feel" of the school, the cleanliness of the school and the work undertaken maintaining the school grounds.
