Book Week 2015

On Monday 24 August at 9:00am B Block came alive when the whole school gathered to celebrate Book Week -  BOOKS LIGHT UP OUR WORLD!  Attending our assembly were a range of book characters including super heroes, princesses, animals, ninja turtles, fairy tale characters, rainbow fish, bees and a lot of sheep.

We were also fortunate to have special guests share this occasion with us: Police Constable Joe, Wendy Murrell, and Coralee O’Rourke the Minister for Disabilities, Seniors and the Minister to Assist the Premier for North Queensland.

Constable Joe presented our Student of the Month certificates to ;  Darcy W, Emma J, Dylan H and Lattisha S.

The Minister and Wendy presented Book Week certificates to the following students:

Junior Sector: Darcey B, Deacon K

Middle Sector: Tyrone T, Jayden S

Junior Secondary: Erica H, Shania C

Senior Sector: Keeley S, Joel B

After our awards were presented the audience was treated to a parade from each sector and then a special presentation by some of the staff. Chris asked the students to help her find the ‘Green Sheep’.  After locating all sorts of sheep including red and blue sheep, moon and star sheep, thin and wide sheep, up and down sheep we finally found the green sheep sleeping under a tree. The rendition of this book was well received with insightful character performances from all the sheep!!! Thank you to the students who engaged in the story and helped find this wayward animal.

Thank you also to the parents, students and staff who made this assembly come alive with a riot of colour and costumes.
