Book Week 2013

29/08/2013
Parading in costume as a favourite character from a story book, film or comic is an annual highlight for students at TCLC. Every August, to acknowledge Book Week, a whole school assembly is devoted to the school community coming together to celebrate books and well-loved characters.

The theme of this year’s Book Week ‘Read Across the Universe’ saw students dress in costumes as astronauts, clowns, pirates and superheroes. Frequently read and all-time favourite books such as “Mrs Honey’s Pot”, “Giraffes Can’t Dance”, “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly” and “Where’s Wally?” were represented by class groups. As well, visitors to the school were surprised to be greeted by the Administration officer dressed as Mrs Wishy Washy and the teacher-aide librarian as Snow White.

Tariq Sims, our Adopt-A-Cowboy, introduced all class groups and also acknowledged the Students of the Month.  The Cool Tool for August was “Talking Politely” and the following students were acknowledged for following this rule:
Junior sector: Willie
Middle sector: Phoebe and Brodie
Senior sector: Bailey

Well done to these students for being great role models for their peers.
